The first edition of E45 Napoli Fringe Festival featured 27 performances staged in theatres and open-space venues in the city with its own separate but parallel programme to the official Festival programme. The innovative aspect of last year's edition was that a jury of experts short-listed five different groups to present a project in February 2011 to fringe2fringe, a collaborative project between the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia and the Teatro Stabile di Napoli aimed at promoting new creative talent in the theatre sector. Prodigal Theatre was chosen from this list of five to present the final version of their project as a full performance during the 2011 edition of the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia.
During this third edition of the Fringe, over 16 performances have been selected from the numerous replies which were received from all parts of the world received in response to the call for proposals. The selection criteria for the contest specify that the performance must not exceed 90 minutes and that the winners take care of all organisational matters and communication, including that of the venues or theatres provided by Napoli Teatro Festival Italia.
E45 Napoli Fringe Festival 2011
The Third edition of the E45 Napoli fringe festival will take place from the 28 June to the 14 July. An "independent" Festival dedicated to up and coming theatrical groups, the fi rst edition of E45 was launched during the second edition of the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia (2009) and based on the model of major international fringe festivals.
