Earnings from some of the shows of the third edition of Napoli Teatro Festival Italia will be devolved to: Dottor Sorriso (see Football, Football); to victims of the earthquake in Chile (see Diciotto carati and L'Uomo che Dava da Bere alle Farfalle).
The financial aid will allow the continuation of the clown therapy activities in the Pediatric Cardio-Chirurgic and Intensive Therapy wards in the Monaldi Hospital. The kind of diseases treated in this department, the average length of hospitalizations and the seriousness of the clinic situations makes the presence of Smile Doctors particularly delicate and at the same time very important. Created in 1996 thanks to an initiative by the Fondazione Aldo Garavaglia, the DOTTOR SORRISO ONLUS aims at improving the quality of life of hospitalized children through the effectiveness of a smile. Every day, Smile Doctors visit the pediatric departments of hospitals to meet with children and try to get a smile out of them, taking them away from the sadness imposed by their hospitalization. Thanks to the support of many companies and thousands of parents, the Foundation carries out its mission by employing professional clowns who perform their activity (clown therapy) inside health facilities and rehabilitation institutes in close collaboration with the medical staff as part of the hospital program.
